I've recently read this resource. I think it's great and I'd like to know What do you think about it? and Is it true or false in some chapters? it's on the next page:

Congratulations to Pademolay and "Dad" Brent Richards.

This "problem" has been around probably as long as DeMolay has had awards and honors to wear.

The old DeMolay Handbook poked fun at it with a cute cartoon at the beginning of the Awards and Honors Chapter..."and this one is holding up my underwear" was, i think, the caption.

In my day we referred to the syndrome as "Chinese Admiral" or "Chinese General".

Perhaps that's not Politically Correct today, so now the Swiss take the blame?

I've never seen a Swiss Admiral, even though they have a "Navy" of sorts (Patrol Boats on their Lakes and Rivers, like Lake Geneva, etc.)

They DO have an official Naval Ensign flag for their Patrol Boats.

I think we might cut them some slack and use some other term.

But that photo is GREAT!!!

Brothers,
I have to reply to this post cause I think it is a funny topic. I plan on joining the Navy this year,So seeing these guys you would have to salute, jokeing. But I belive looking at the picture that the one guy who is wearing the Chev cords thats all he should wear. As for the other guy he should only wear what he feels are his most and highest award that he has earned. I only wear my demolay lamp pin, and my Founders medal, and maybe the pin I got that has the masonic symbol and the demolay symbol. But I just think that these guys need to lighten up on what they wear it looks unprofecional. talk to you all later

Brother, D

Hi brothers
When I started this "funny" topic, I thought in some members that think that DeMolay is just awards or degrees, and maybe with this resource or any resource of this kind, they could think in the image that they are showing to their young brothers.
I found another image about the swiss admiral on the next web page from Pademolay:

Once a time congratulations to Pademolay.

Again, A very funny cartoon, and one which implies that there is "too much of a good thing". Which is true, IMO.

Of course, the counter-argument is "Them that has 'em should wear 'em."

While I agree with the idea of wearing a few select pieces of regalia, ther comes the inevitable question of "which should be worn?"

'The RD is rarer than the Chevalier, though not than the Legion of Honor. So if I have all three, which should I be wearing? Or do I just pick a different one for each day of Conclave (if there are days enoungh)?'

Of course, it IS possible to carry all of them in you pockets, and keep changing them, as for an Honors Day when all three are being conferred, but that, too, comes across as a bit tacky.

In the end, the only right answer is "Whatever you are comfortable with wearing, that you are entitled to wear."

And if someone salutes you, return it with a smile.

bro. luis,

that picture gave us a laugh here at the office (there are 3 DeMolays here). the accompanying article too. hilarious but well, true. i've seen a number of members here in our jurisdiction who do the same thing. only here we don't refer to them as SWISS ADMIRALS but as CHRISTMAS TREES, bedecked and trimmed to the max.

dad dale, you're right. sometimes choosing which honor or award to wear can present a problem. i usually wear only my chev cordon and medal.

salute the SWISS ADMIRAL and sing a carol for the CHRISTMAS TREE.

ciao!

Hehe, great picture there....

I've seen a couple of guys that do that, it's really entertaining watching their jackets tip to one side.

I do wear my fair share of regalia. I wear my ritual pins (4) and my Number 1 Pin! These are what I wear because they're simple, pretty, and I'm incredibly proud of them!

But if I ever looked like one of the guys in the picture I would ask to have my jacket removed... that's just ridiculous... nothing against the brothers, but jeez...

*Salutes*
