Hi my name is Bill horne and I am a member of the Racine Chapter of DeMolay. The reason I joined DeMolay is because my mom wanted me to try it out and my grandpa is a Mason so I figured what the heck it couldn't hurt plus I had a lot of free time as it was and I wanted something to do.Since then i have moved to the rank of junior councilor and I have enjoyed every minute of the time I have in DeMolay. What I have learned is that we as DeMolay have a responsibility to treat women with respect and work together hand in hand to build a better tomorrow for our children and our children's children and that only through teamwork and a good effort will we accomplish anything.

Bill,
Thanks for sharing your story. As a Senior DeMolay, I can tell you that you haven't begin to learn things, meet people, and start the journey of DeMolay.
It is truly an awesome experience and it is without a doubt true, that you get out of DeMolay what you put into it.
Best of luck, I know some people in the Racine area so I know you are in good hands.

Hello,

I hope everyone who reads this thread recognizes that this is basically a one topic section of the BBS, and almost all the threads here deal with the same question(s)...

why you joined and what you got out of being a DeMolay.

Anyone wanting a very good, and also very broad, sampling of responses should read ALL of the threads in the Topic/Section of the BBS.

Pretty much every common reason for joining has been brought up, and most of the benefits derived have been discussed, on one thread or another.

If someone is considering whether to join or not to join, this is a really good resource to explore.

Respectfully,

Dad D.

PS Your mileage may vary. (Standard lawyer disclaimer.)

Ever since I've reached my college days I was aware of different fraternities.. I said to myself that I would never join any fraternity whether community or campus based... Back then I was never aware of the fraternity called DeMolay... Until one day a classmate of mine learned through one of our conversation that I am a son of a Mason.. Then he asked me if I ever heard of DeMolay and I said no..hehehe.. He invited me to an orientation and when the first time I've entered the Scottish Rite Temple I was amazed on all the heroes surrounding the Heroes Hall who were Masons.. And after the video for orientation was shown and the 7 cardinal virtues were briefly explained, I decided to fill up an application form right then and there... After that well let's just say is history... When i was initiated I never felt so welcome in my life... I became active on my chapter and after six mnths i was elected as Senior Councilor and after another 6 months or 1 year after i was initiated I was installed as the MC of the chapter.. My term just ended last january but our chapter dad appointed me as an associate advisor.. DeMolay has changed my life... It taught me many lessons that cannot be taught in schools or in books... I can say i became a better man and I owe it all to the Order... I am forever grateful that i joined this wonderful brotherhood...

Hi brothers my name is Derek Runge. I am a PMC of Ashley chapter order of demolay in pierre, SD. I joined in a chapter that was no active members. Me and three other guys joined but we had to wait a month or so then we had senior demolays put everything on. I joined because I had nothing better to do and I wanted to be apart of something great. I never could speek in front of a large body. I had very little respect for women. And I was a shy young man. Well All has changed I have more respect for women then what i used to. I am an out going guy I like to walk up to a person and just start talking thats probley why I have gotten about 9 guys into demolay. And I am an excellent guy to give a speech in front of a large assembly. I started going out for the DRama club in my school. And its pretty easy the kids ask me why I dont have trouble with acting in front of people well "DeMolay" taught me a lot. its made me a better man then I can think of never missed a meeting. Its something every young guy should get apart of.

Bro. D

Joev,

My chapter is, I believe, the best DeMolay chapter in Metro Manila. Anyway, that was long, long time ago.

Joev,

Clue: My chapter is the most rebellious and subversive since its inception long, long time ago.

Joev,

You are a very intelligent young man. I reminisce my younger years when I was your age. Have you heard of the "Golden Lanyard"? I always like the Saints, but always loyal to my ideals. MUY LEAL.

bro pinoynabrodako,

the golden lanyard is the official publication of the jose abad santos chapter. i believe i saw a copy of a really old issue at the library of the university of the philippines in diliman. i'm not sure if you're from mabini. i'm from the 2nd batch of that chapter and spent a really long time there. so what chapter are you from?

Second Clue:

When I was active in DeMolay, there was no Mabini or Flores chapters yet.

P.S.- Sorry for my ignorance, but who is Ambrosio Flores?

Third Clue:

Supreme Court Justice JOSE ABAD SANTOS and U.S. General DOUGLAS MaCARTHUR's dedication and LOYALTY to their country were extraordinary. There was a time in the history of my chapter, that because too many members were outpoken and rebellious, we tried to change the name of our chapter to ANDRES BONIFACIO or GREGORIO DEL PILAR. Muy LEAL! Muy LEAL!

Fourth Clue:

During my time, most of the members are good writers (studying at U.P., U.S.T., U.E., F.E.U., Adamson U.,etc.) so my chapter was the only one with a chapter official publication in the entire Philippines.
